It is impossible to mention Le Mans without talking about its legendary circuit. And that may even be the reason for your visit to the Sarthe region! Every year, the 24 Hours of Le Mans attracts thousands of spectators from all over the world. Whether you’re a speed enthusiast or simply curious to discover this unique motor racing adventure, you’re sure to be spellbound!

A slight change of scenery and atmosphere: after the roar of the engines, it’s time for some medieval charm. Seven kilometres from the circuit, the Cité Plantagenêt, the historic heart of the city, offers a real journey back in time. With its cobbled streets, half-timbered houses and imposing ramparts, it’s almost like being in a film set. Saint-Julien Cathedral proudly dominates the city. It is one of the largest Gothic buildings in France!

How about a break in nature after this long and eventful walk? To enjoy a breath of fresh air, head to the banks of the Sarthe for a relaxing stroll or to the Arche de la Nature park, THE green lung on the outskirts of the city. Perfect for a family walk, a bike ride or an impromptu picnic. Bonus: children will love visiting the educational farms, which offer activities based around nature.

Finally, no stay in Le Mans would be complete without sampling the famous rillettes du Mans for a gourmet break… And to top it all off, treat yourself to some Loire wines (in moderation) or visit the local markets, which are brimming with regional specialities. We all agree that holidays are also an opportunity to indulge, don’t we?

A journey into automotive legend: welcome to the 24 Hours Museum

Motorsport enthusiasts will undoubtedly not want to miss it, but even the curious have plenty to discover! The 24 Hours of Le Mans Museum is a must-see. Located right next to the legendary circuit, it houses more than 140 legendary vehicles that trace a full century of competition, victories and innovation. Speed… but at your own pace! Here, the cars are neatly arranged, leaving plenty of room for admiration.

As you wander through the rooms, you’ll discover legendary models that have marked the history of the 24 Hours: from racing cars dating back to the 1920s to slightly futuristic prototypes, including the most famous brands such as Ferrari, Jaguar, Porsche and Audi. Each car tells an epic story, a challenge for drivers and engineers, and sometimes a little anecdote.

But the museum is not limited to flamboyant car bodies: you will also discover models, archive films, interactive exhibitions and testimonials. Something for everyone!

And the little extra? As the museum is located right next to the circuit, you can follow in the footsteps of the champions after admiring the cars that have made history. Just be careful not to ‘drive’ on your way back…!
